From Capital Football:
BNU’s Women’s Premier team will be celebrating after their 2-0 win at Wellington College on Sunday saw them qualify for the 2015 Women’s Central League with a 4-0 aggregate.
BNU’s assured passing and speed up front proved to be too good for the young Moturoa team as Sophie Wilkinson pounced twice in the match to hand the Wellington side their 2-0 win.
The hosts were guilty at times of trying to walk the ball into the back of the net as they turned down the chance to take open shots at goal, but Wilkinson’s 13th and 60th minute goals put the result beyond doubt.
Moturoa did have a couple of good chances though, the best of which came from a corner that saw the resulting header come crashing back off the crossbar with the BNU keeper beaten.
In the second half, a failed clearance saw Moturoa fire a half-volley towards goal only for the crossbar to again come to BNU’s rescue.
However in the end, BNU’s experience came to the fore as they shut their opponents out of the game in the last half hour, holding possession for long periods of the game to ensure their promotion.
